New Pages

How to create a new page

To create a new page click on the big + at the top and choose “Create new page”. Then the following window opens:

Creating a new page

[1] Give the page a name – This will be the name that appears in the navigation and will be used to create the URL. You can also add any other languages relevant to your project by clicking on "Add another language".

Note: If you forgot to give a page a name in a certain language you can still add this later. Just look for the page in the navigation tree and click on the three dots next to it's name. Choose "Rename" and this window will open:

Rename

Here all the languages you have chosen for this page in the page settings (see here) will be shown. Please give them a name in every language.

[2] Navigation: Select here where the new page should be placed in your navigation tree. If you have forgotten or chosen the wrong placement, you can still change the position via drag & drop once the page is created. Please also select here whether the page should have a menu item or not.

  • If you choose Page with menu item the page gets placed in a folder with the same name.
  • If you choose Page without menu item the page gets placed in the navigation tree without an additional folder.

[3] Layout: Here you have different options.

  • If you select the empty page option, you must select a layout that will be applied to the page. You can choose between:

    - Standard page: Which is a normal Content Page Template

    - Footer: for the CTA Section & Footerbox; Note: The Footer is only needed once per project

    - Header: for the Search Flyout; Note: The Header is only needed once per project

    - Homepage: Note: The Homepage is only needed once per project

    - Multiplexer Page: The multiplexer page is the start page in a folder of pages with dynamic content, it is the container for multiple content elements or components.

    - Dynamic Page Template: Page Template for dynamic content pages

    - “Search Result Page” (more information will follow as soon as these templates are available)

  • You can also choose the apply layout option. Which means that the already existing layout of an existing page will be applied to the new page. You can choose any page you want from your project. Just enter the name of the page in the search bar underneath the blue box that says “From which page do you want to take over the layout?”. Only the layout will be copied (e.g. the standard page template or the homepage template), not the components

Creating a new page - Apply Layout

  • The third option would be to copy the content of an existing page. With this option, you can copy a whole page, including all components. Again, if you want to search for a specific page, just enter the name of the page in the search bar underneath the blue box that says “Which page do you want to copy?”

Creating a new page - Copy the Content

  • The fourth option would be to reference a page. We are currently testing this tool, so please do not use it until we have given you more information.
  • The last option is called From master copy. To use this tool you first have to mark a page as a master copy in the bookmarks. To do this, click on the star in the main navigation. After you have bookmarked this page, you will get to the list of bookmarked pages by clicking on the star in the side navigation. Here you can click on the small icon and add it to the copies.

Creating a new page - Adding a master copy

After doing that you can select the page in the options provided below. Again, if you want to search for a specific page in case you have multiple masters copy, just enter the name of the page in the search bar underneath the blue box that says “Which master copy should be used?”

Creating a new page - From master copy

No matter what you chose, once you are done, click on “Finish” at the bottom. Then the page will be created automatically. You will find it in the navigation at the place you have selected for it.

SEO Settings

SEO is about optimizing the site for search engines like Google.

[1] Page Title = MANDATORY. This is the title of the page that will be visible in any search engine. There is a character limit of 65 characters for the title. The company name no longer has to appear in the title, so please use the available characters for a sensible title.

[2] Description = MANDATORY. This is the description that will be displayed under the title in any search engine (e.g. Google). Here is a character limit of 145 characters.

[3] Index = Decide whether the page should be indexed or not. This is relevant for search engine optimization (SEO). The default value is "noindex", meaning the page will not be indexed.

[4] Follow = Here you decide whether Google should reference the page or not. This is relevant for search engine optimization (SEO). The default value is "nofollow", meaning the page will not be referenced by Google.

SEO Settings

[5] Rich Snippets = This function is still under development. When it is ready and needed the necessary information will be added to this documentation.

[6] H1 = MANDATORY. The headline that will appear at the top of the page. Each page can have only one H1.

[7] Publishing Date = On the date you set, the page will be automatically released, without requiring further action by you. This setting is especially interesting for news, because news are then ranked on the news page according to the preset date.

[8] Expire Date = If you want the page to be online only until a certain date, you can enter the date on which the page should disappear here.

[9] News Section = here you can select an option from a given data source and thus group different pages together to make it easier to filter for this page in the News Teaser component. If you want a new data set, with which you want to group multiple pages together, please contact the Corporate Online Marketing Team. Since the News Teaser component does not work yet, this function is not relevant at the moment.

SEO Settings

[1] [2] Repronote Short and Long = This is the reproduction note. The note states that all decors shown are reproductions. You can only use one of the two repro notes (long or short) at a time, the other is automatically locked by the component. The question of whether you need the long or short repro note for a page can be answered by looking at the content of the page. If you have EDP OR EFP OR EBP decors on your page, so only one type, then you can use the short repro note. As soon as you have a mixture of these decors you have to use the long repro note. This also applies to photos where a floor or another Egger product is clearly visible. Also, for news sites, where it may be that a decor appears, you must use the repro note as well. If you need no Repro Note at all you can hide the repro note completely. Just click on the X to hide the repro note.

[3] Tracking ID = Please leave this field alone, unless you have a good reason to change it. For more information, see the chapter Tracking

[4] Tracking Description = Please leave this field empty, unless you have a good reason to fill it. For more information, see the chapter Tracking

[5] Tracking Page Type = This field is mandatory. For more information, see the chapter Tracking

[6] Tracking Page Subtype = This field is optionale depending on the tracking page type. For more information, see the chapter Tracking

If you click on the General search tab, more settings will appear that you can adjust:

General Search Settings

General Search is the name for the internal search function in egger.com. After clicking on the General Search tab the following page will open:

[2] Headline = This field is intended for the new general search, and are therefore still under revision. As soon as they are ready and needed, you will receive info about them.

[3] Description = this field is intended for the new general search, and are therefore still under revision. As soon as they are ready and needed, you will receive info about them.

[4] Tags for general search = this field is intended for the new general search, and are therefore still under revision. As soon as they are ready and needed, you will receive info about them.

[5] Keywords for general search = this field is intended for the new general search, and are therefore still under revision. As soon as they are ready and needed, you will receive info about them.

Release settings

The third tab release settings only offers you one setting. Here you can set a language as fallback. If you have not translated some pages into your other languages, First Spirit will fall back to this language. We do not recommend this setting.

Language Setting

Another setting that must be made is that you need to click on the languages you use in your project in the page settings. Only if the languages are checked, the page will be taken over by CAS and will also go live in this language.

Create a grid and content

When you chose to create an empty page, or you decided to apply the layout of an existing page, you have no grids on your new page yet. In order to create a new grid, you have to switch from “navigation” to “page" at the top left. Then click on the three dots next to “Content” and choose “New section”.

Creating a new page - Add Section

Now you can choose, if you want to create a new grid, or create a component, that can be used outside of a grid.

Creating a new page - Add Component

After that, you can work on your page like you are used to from the already existing pages.
